To Bring Cultural Events to NYC SROS, Youth Programs and and OACS

Sloka Iyengar is an award-winning Bharatanatyam performer and practitioner and believes that the arts have a critical role to play in society. As a practitioner of dance and science, Sloka has created productions that explore the many points of convergence between dance and neuroscience. She is on the adjunct faculty at The Public Health Foundation of India, where she is developing a course on common neurological disorders that will be provided to general practitioners in India. 

Sloka holds a PHD from The University of South Carolina. She has been involved in neuroscience outreach and advocacy in New York City, and received a fellowship to visit Capitol Hill and lobby for basic neuroscience funding to elected officials. She also teaches evolution and neuroscience at the American Museum of Natural History, and advises scientists to write about epilepsy for patients and caregivers. As a practitioner, performer, and teacher of Bharatanatyam,  she founded SamyuktaNYC: an organization with two goals – to explore science through the lens of dance, and to bring the arts to underserved venues.

She currently teaches Chair Yoga all over New York City, and is the author of Simon and Schuster's best-selling book "Chair Yoga For Seniors." She has pioneered events with Compassionate Cultural Projects at The Woodstock SRO in New York City, throughout the second half of 2023, and in November of 2024, Simon and Schuster will publish her follow up book "Total Body Fitness for 50+: Achieve Flexibility, Strength, and Heart Health." o1

Born in NYC, Sarah narrowly evaded becoming a full-blown New Yorker by moving to the farm coast wilds of Little Compton RI. NYC is still the #1 city in the universe according to Sarah, who is an artist and meditation teacher with two adorable black dogs. She is the founder and director of The Providence Institute For Contemplative Study And Natural Health (pi for short), which is gently sleeping now as Sarah pursues visual arts and choral singing, both of which she studied at Bennington College. She later earned a MA in Buddhist Studies in 2003 from Naropa University in Boulder, CO, the first Buddhist University in the West. 

Sarah has served on boards in the arts (Greater Tiverton Community Chorus), the environment (Sakonnet Preservation Association), nourishment of people and pets (Little Compton Food Pantry), and spirituality (Board of Deacons at The United Congregational Church, where she is the token Buddhist and also a soloist in the choir).

Sarah’s view: We are all interconnected. Individual healing depends upon societal healing.

Larry Stephen Hines, an accomplished actor, singer and dancer has worked in television and film as well as theatre nationally and abroad. 

Larry has graced the stage with his talents in Broadway's Play On! with Andre De Shields at The Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Sophisticated Ladies with Dee Dee Bridgewater, Starlight Express, A Chorus Line, Grand Hotel, Smokey Joe's Cafe, The Wiz, My One and Only, Blackbirds of Broadway, Tap Extravaganza, Lyrics of Andy Razaf, Five Guys Named Moe, Best of Broadway, A Christmas Carol, Sesame Street Live, The New York Rat Pack and Sammy Davis Jr. - The Ultimate Entertainer, Dramatic plays include Master Harold and the boys, Ain't That A Kick In The Head with Tom Wopat, Rain, Whose Life Is It Anyway, The Sunshine Boys, and Stuck to name a few. Currently, Larry can be seen in his one man show “Being Sammy," which premiered, presented by CCP at The Woodstock, on September 20th, 2023, The Clyde McPhatter Drifters (featuring Ron McPhatter) and Shadows of the 60's - Tribute to Motown directed and produced by Dave Revels.
